The most memorable moments in my first year dayz ...In Aaruush'07,the limelight of the syposium is the most admired INDIAN CITIZEN his Excellency,Dr.A.P.J.abdul kalam our former president.
September 1st 2007, S.R.M blended in the fragrance of this erudite. His personality-as vibrant and charismatic as any. Yes, we were blessed to have amongst us, his Excellency, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.
His presence in the S.R.M auditorium kept the audience spell bound. A meek smile and the wave of a hand amplified his profound aura.
In his address to the students,which was eagerly attended by many a thousand, he appreciated S.R.M for being a multidisciplinary institution, which has engineering, medicine, hotel management, architecture, humanities and management all clubbed together with a sole aim of empowering the youth to shoulder the national responsibilities. He congratulated the chancellor, vice-chancellor, registrar and all members of the faculty for taking up such a noble task. The evident hard work of the students in achieving the same was also appreciated by him.
In nutshell, he elucidated the meaning of ‘Knowledge’. According to him,
“Knowledge has various components:
• Creativity
• Righteousness
• Courage
Creativity leads to thinking,
Thinking provides knowledge,
Knowledge makes you brave.
"Where there is righteousness in the heart,
There is beauty in character…."
The students followed his every word as he portrayed these golden thoughts.
He concluded, urging the youth to contribute to the national development to the best of their oriented potential, thus fulfilling his dream: "INDIA 2020”.
A dream that only the youth can dare to pursue, a dream that only the youth can transform into reality.
